Tiniest Cowboys fan Sydney-bound to cheer on dad's debut

SOME of the North Queensland Cowboys will be playing in their first NRL grand final this Sunday.

But it will also be a first for Cowboys prop John Asiata's newly born baby girl Eleana Sarai Asiata.

Asiata's wife Shailah confirmed Eleana would be attending the game against Melbourne Storm at Sydney's ANZ Stadium on Sunday.

"I'm a bit nervous to take her but it will be worth it once they win," she said.

Shailah has this week been celebrating the achievements of the Cowboys and her husband John who has been playing with a broken hand .

"It's still unbelievable," she said. "We knew they could win but it's so exciting we're going to the grand final."

It will be Eleana's first flight.

"It will be her first time meeting all of John's family as well, as they live down there," Shailah said.

She spent Saturday watching the Cowboys play the Sydney Roosters at her parents' house in what was a quiet affair.

"She was sleeping so we were trying our best not to wake her up," Shailah said.

For now the baby girl, who was born at the Mater Women's Unit on August 30, is getting used to having huge crowds flock to her famous rugby league father.

"She's pretty good with the crowds," Shailah said

"She's a celebrity (in Townsville). Much more than me and John ever will be."
