Tippers claim their footy prizes
THE Whitsunday Times' 2012 NRL and AFL tipping competition wrapped up last Wednesday night with the winners receiving their prizes at a function at the Reef Gateway Hotel.
Paul Perrin from Autopro Cannonvale took out the NRL competition and was thrilled to win the first prize of an all inclusive trip for two to this Sunday's grand final between the Melbourne Storm and Canterbury Bulldogs at ANZ stadium in Sydney.
Mr Perrin got involved in the tipping challenge this year and he said winning the trip to the grand final was a great way to cap off a very successful involvement in the competition.
Don Cameron from Master Butchers Whitsundays finished as the top AFL tipper for the season and his efforts were rewarded with a $4,200 entertainment package from Retravison.
His win helped ease the pain of his beloved Carlton Blues failing to qualify for the AFL finals.
Marc Turner from Supanews also claimed a prize on the night, collecting the dreaded wooden spoon for finishing last in the AFL competition. Everybody involved with the tipping competition this year spoke highly of benefits for their business. Anyone wishing to get involved next year should contact the Whitsunday Times on
