Titans' Douglas moving to England

NRL: Luke Douglas has joined the long list of players leaving the Gold Coast Titans after signing for English Super League club St Helens.

Douglas has signed a three-year deal after deciding not to take up the final year of his contract with the Titans.

The Titans' player of the year in 2015, Douglas told the St Helens website: "I'm really looking forward to this new challenge.

"The club has a great profile and stature in the game and I hope to be able to contribute to developing that wonderful culture.”

David Mead, Nathan Friend, Matt Srama, Josh Hoffman, Nene Macdonald, Lachlan Burr, Kierran Moseley, Matt Robinson, Leva Li and Cameron Cullen are also leaving the Gold Coast.

Meanwhile, Dragons centre Dylan Farrell has been forced into retirement because of a long-standing back problem.

"It is not the way that I would have preferred to bow out but deep down I know it is the best decision for both my family and myself moving forward in the long run,” Farrell said.

"I have enjoyed every minute playing rugby league and wish I could have returned to the field but unfortunately it was not meant to be.”

Farrell played 19 first-grade games for the club after signing in 2014.
