Tom Cruise unprepared for stunts

TOM Cruise was unprepared when he had to jump off the world's tallest building for new movie 'Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol'.

The 49-year-old actor - who has reprised his role as agent Ethan Hunt in the fourth film of the franchise - says he wanted to perform all of his own stunts, including leaping from the top of Dubai's Burj Khalifa tower.

Speaking at the UK premiere of his new film, Tom told BANG Showbiz: "The first time I was out I had to test when I fly off the building. It was something that I couldn't train for, I just had to figure it out".

Tom says he spent many hours preparing to climb the building in order to jump off it.

He said: "It was about eight or nine hours a day so I would do speed climbing and take about an hour and just climb up and down without stopping, just to build it up."

Although he did sustain a few injuries, Tom insists they were nothing serious, saying: "I am recovered."

With filming behind him, Tom - who has a five-year-old daughter, Suri, with actress wife Katie Holmes - says he will be concentrating on relaxing this Christmas.

The star - who also has two adopted children, Isabella, 19 and 15-year-old Connor, with ex-wife Nicole Kidman - said: "I'm with the family, we are gonna hang out, play lots of games, you know, watch lots of movies."
