Tonight’s the night for game two
IN THE Bernett household, State of Origin is more than mate against mate, it's mother against son.
Mum Stacy Bernett proudly flies the New South Wales flag, despite being outnumbered by her three Queensland-born sons.
Sam, 18, Max, 14, and Wil, 11, are definitely all Queenslanders come Origin night.
"It doesn't bother me, a bit of rivalry on the night is good," Ms Bernett said.
"(Rugby league is) a great game."
Born in Sydney, Ms Bernett moved to Queensland when she was nine.
She thinks James Maloney will be the man to watch tonight.
Son Wil, however, disagrees, telling his mum, "New South Wales suck". Wil has been playing rugby league as a Proserpine junior since under-6s and said he'd like to keep up the sport as he got older.
His pick of tonight's team is Corey Oates.
Proserpine junior rugby league under-13 and Queensland supporter Jack Tyler is confident about a home win saying, "we'll smash them".
Under-12s Blake Hiscox loves Queensland as well, but more cautiously predicted a close game.
Both boys named Johnathan Thurston as the man to watch.
Blues supporter Jake Upston also thinks it will be a close game but with a Blues victory. He likes to keep an eye on Michael Jennings.
After a classic State of Origin opener it all boils down to tonight.
The Maroons will have a sold-out Suncorp Stadium behind them and the chance to claim their 10th series win in 11 years.
New South Wales is against the odds but anything can happen.
Tune in from 7.30pm on Channel 9.
