Tourist’s boozy night out ends badly

AN ITALIAN tourist has been fined for being a public nuisance at the Royal Hotel in Gatton.

Pasquale Castaldo, who is in the country until November, required an Italian interpreter for his hearing in the Gatton Magistrates Court.

Police Prosecutor told the court on May 7 police were called to the Royal Hotel, Gatton at 2.30am when an intoxicated male who had been kicked out of the pub, had returned and was creating a disturbance with security guards.

"He was yelling loudly and when asked to leave by security guards, he refused," Sgt De Lissa said.

"Police reported him to be argumentative and unhelpful with their questions."

Castaldo told Magistrate Damien Carroll he did not remember it happening exactly how it was relayed, though he believed he had misbehaved that night and was remorseful.

Magistrate Carroll fined Castaldo $450.
