Town's time to talk

DO YOU have an opinion on how Proserpine should look in years to come?

If so, the time has come to have your say.

Whitsunday Regional Council will be opening community consultation on a Master Plan for Proserpine this week, with the period to run from December 1, 2016 to February 28, 2017.

The desired outcome of the Master Plan is to drive urban growth and economic development, including tourism attraction for Proserpine.

Consultation will include public forums at the Proserpine Community Centre, face-to-face meetings at a dedicated shop-front to open soon at 55 Main St and display stalls at public events, starting with the Quota Christmas Markets at Les Stagg Oval this Friday, December 2.

Mayor Andrew Willcox is asking all Proserpine residents "to put your thinking caps on and let us know your ideas for the future of the town”.

"What types of activities and public spaces do you think we need to be a thriving, bustling town? What types of tourist attractions do you think will bring visitors to the town? All suggestions are welcome, and we will consider all ideas...” he said.

The full consultation program including dates and locations will be released by council in the next few weeks.
