Trial Wintermoon in October

THE first Wintermoon Music Festival held in October may become a regular fixture on the calendar after the success of the weekend's event.

Between 450-500 people turned out for the "test run" of the new Wintermoon Festival site at Stoney Creek at the weekend.

The festival is usually held during May, and one of the volunteers, Shaz Klein, said this was the perfect opportunity to test if the event would also be successful during October.

"It's been on our minds for a long time that this would make a beautiful festival site, and this was a good opportunity to try it on this long weekend," Ms Klein said.

Wintermoon was about bringing like-minded people together in a peaceful, safe, friendly and welcoming environment, she said.

"It's not only about music, it's the artwork and all of the other little things that go on, including the workshops."

It is believed the festival will be held again on the traditional May date next year.
