Mum in child prostitution scandal
AN IPSWICH mother accused of prostituting young girls has faced court.
The 30-year-old Collingwood Park woman has been charged with 28 offences relating to child prostitution, indecent treatment of children and dangerous drugs.
She was arrested on Thursday night along with a 41-year-old man and 39-year-old man.
Police have charged the trio with 39 offences following several weeks of investigations.
Police will allege the trio procured juveniles under the age of 16 for prostitution.
The woman has been charged with eight counts of procuring a young person for carnal knowledge, four counts of prostitution, seven counts of indecent treatment of a child under 16 and two counts of supplying dangerous drugs to a minor.
She is also charged with three counts of attempting to procure a young person for carnal knowledge, two counts of attempted procurement of a child or person with impairment of the mind to engage in prostitution and one count each of possession of a dangerous drug and possession of a utensil.
The woman appeared in Ipswich Magistrates Court yesterday where no bail application was made.
She was remanded in custody to reappear on December 16.
The 41-year-old man has been charged with two counts of procuring prostitution and one count each of production of a dangerous drug, possession of dangerous drug, possession of property involved in a commission of a crime and possess a utensil.
The 39-year-old man was arrested and charged with one count each of carnal knowledge of a child under 16, production of a dangerous drug, possession of dangerous drug, possession of property involved in a commission of a crime and possess a utensil. Both men will appear in court on December 22.
