Two cars taken, three homes targeted in Bowen break-in spree

Thieves have targeted three Bowen homes in the past few days, sparking a police investigation into the spate of break-ins.

Bowen Police officer-in-charge Craig Shepherd said the first break-in occurred on Thursday about 6am when one or more people broke into a house in Troyon Court.

Those responsible forced their way in through the front door and searched through the home.

Senior Sergeant Shepherd said the residents woke up when they heard noise and those inside the home decamped, but took a set of house keys with them.

A couple of days later, just after midnight on Sunday, another house on Hay St was broken into.

Sergeant Shepherd said one or more people broke into a home and stole keys for a silver 2009 Mitsubishi Outlander.

The residents woke when they saw a flash of light and then heard their own vehicle being driven away.

The vehicle has not yet been found.

The third break-in occurred at a house on Pilcher Place in Bowen, between 10pm Tuesday and 6am Wednesday.

Sergeant Shepherd said keys to a white 2019 Mazda CX-5 were taken from the house, as well as personal items and a wallet.
