Two men assaulted in late night McDonalds fight

WHITSUNDAY CIB are investigating a serious assault that occurred in Airlie Beach in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Investigator Snr Const Gary Hiles at the Whitsunday CIB said police wanted to speak to three suspects in relation to the assault that happened outside McDonalds on Shute Harbour Rd at 3.30am.

A 32-year-old Mackay man was assaulted and also a 55-year-old security guard, who tried to intervene, Snr Const Hiles said.

The security guard was knocked out as a result of the assault, while the 32-year-old man received a broken jaw and a cut to his eye.

Both men were taken to Proserpine Hospital and were released the following day.
