Under eights gear up for big morning out with a difference

PROSERPINE State School's Big Morning Out will celebrate cultural diversity, explore culture and languages from across the globe.

On Thursday, May 24, from 9.30am-noon at PSS, all children in the community aged eight and under are invited to enjoy the free activities including face painting, crafts, cooking, music, dance, sports, storytelling, science, indigenous arts and craft and fence painting murals.

Co-ordinator and Proserpine State School teacher Melissa Jones said the aim of the day was to promote quality early childhood activities.

Under-Eights Week is an event organised annually by the Early Childhood Australia Queensland Branch through its Under-Eights Week State Planning Committee.

Schools and early childhood centres across the region will operate the activities, with PSS student leaders and mentors assisting the under-eights on the day.

Quota Club and school parents will put on a sausage sizzle and drink special for $3 accompanied by a selection of morning tea treats for sale.

Under-Eights Week also aims to showcase a range of early childhood services and the needs of young children from birth to age eight.
