Ute comes to a sticky end in Wild Cattle Creek

A SIMPLE outing turned into a costly exercise for the owner of a Nissan Navara ute that was stuck in Wild Cattle Creek on Sunday.

Tannum Sands local Greg Klease was at the boat ramp fishing on Sunday afternoon when the adventure unfolded.

He said it was not the first time a vehicle had been bogged in the sand.

"We've lived in Tannum since 1996 and the creek claims about one car every nine months, as long as you're moving it's okay but as soon as you stop you start sinking slowly into the sand," he said.

Mr Klease said drivers usually had about two-and-a-half hours from low tide to safely navigate their way out of the creek.
