Vegetation fire crosses the Bruce Highway at Lethebrook

EMERGENCY services were called to a vegetation fire near Bruce Highway, Lethebrook this afternoon.

The Whitsunday Coast Guardian understands the fire broke out earlier today at the end of Bell Road and was attended by four Queensland Fire and Emergency Services crews.

A QFES spokesperson said the fire sparked again just before noon.

The spokesperson said the fire was believed to have crossed the Bruce Highway and was active on either side of the road.

Firefighters are working to contain the fire.

QFES confirmed smoke is affecting the Bruce Highway and Queensland Police are on the scene managing traffic.

The fire is posing no threat to property at this time.

QFES said if affected by smoke, residents should close windows and doors and keep respiratory medications close by.

If residents are concerned their property is under threat they are advised to call Triple Zero (000) immediately.
