Video messages disturb
A 31-YEAR-OLD father-to-be who sent his ex-partner a number of masturbation videos just four days after being released on parole has paid for his actions with more time behind bars.
The man, who can't be named, appeared in the Proserpine Magistrates Court on Monday via a video link from the prison where he has been in custody since his parole was suspended on November 14.
Police Prosecutor, Senior Sergeant Matt Saunders said it was about 5am on October 28 when the man started sending inappropriate Facebook messages to his ex-partner followed by three separate videos of him masturbating.
The court heard the man, who pleaded guilty as charged, had sent the material with the hope of restarting their relationship and admitted it was an error of judgement.
Magistrate Simon Young said the man's behaviour was "quite bizarre" and needed to be condemned by the court on the strongest possible terms.
"No person should be subject to that type of... unwanted advance," he said, adding it was "grossly disturbing".
The man was also charged with breaching a separate protection order, breaching bail and contravening a police requirement to provide his ID particulars within a specified time frame.
The further breaches involved visiting an address the man was prohibited from on October 11 and 13.
Magistrate Young said these constituted a more "low level abuse" and fined the man $500.
For the offences involving the video messages he imposed a sentence of three months imprisonment.
Noting the time already spent behind bars, a parole eligibility date of December 5 was set.
