Volunteers show their support for candidates
STAN and Merewyn Wright know the election process like the back of their hands.
Mr Wright has lived in the region for more than 28 years and Ms Wright for eight years.
The couple have been involved in elections for the last decade and today they are flying the Liberal National Coalition flag in support of George Christensen.
Coordinator for the local area and taking care of several of the LNP booths, Mr Wright said he had been following politics his whole life.
"As coordinator, I ensure our volunteers for the LNP party have all the equipment they need and make sure there's always someone manning the booths," he said.
"We want to see more work and more jobs and George has been one to speak out about it in all the right places," he added.
Mr Wright said he was "quietly confident" the LNP would do well.
As for the atmosphere at the polling booths, Ms Wright said it had been positive.
"It's been really good and really friendly," she said.
"We're all part of a community and we all want what's best."
Also outside the PCYC this afternoon was Greens supporter, Eric Oliver handing out 'how to vote' cards for the Greens.
Mr Oliver said he had seen a significant decrease in the number of people willing to take the additional information.
"There's a large number of people who have already decided before they get here," he said.
"There's so much information online nowadays and so people are able to make up their minds much earlier."
Mr Oliver said he had always been politically active and involved in elections for nearly 10 years.
"We want to see as much as possible done for the environment," he said.
"We're standing up for new jobs, new economy and protecting the land and water for future generations."
