Water outages to end

FOR some Cannonvale residents who have had to skip showers during the past month due to burst water mains, your water woes are soon to end.

Whitsunday Regional Council Mayor Jennifer Whitney said in light of the Manooka Drive area being one of the oldest established in Cannonvale, a "water main renewal" had been included in the upcoming 2015-16 council budget.

Cr Whitney confirmed there had been three water main breaks on Manooka Dr in the past month.

"Council's water and sewerage department has commenced design works for the upgrade, with a view to commencing the work as soon as possible," she said.

"In the meantime, council workers have provided an interim fix, including the installation of additional valves to minimise any further disruption of this area." Cr Whitney thanked affected residents for their patience and understanding. To report water outages or burst water mains, contact the council's customer service centre any time on 4945 0200.
