Waterfall plunge prompts search and rescue in Qld national park
A SEARCH and rescue operation is underway in a national park north of Cairns after a man was reported missing overnight.
Police are coordinating the search for a 31-year-old man who reportedly slipped and fell about 30 metres into water at the Roaring Meg Falls at Creb Track, Bloomfield, about 6.30pm on Sunday.
A woman who had been with the man had to walk some distance to a ranger's hut to call Triple-0 due to patchy communications in the area.
Emergency services located the woman last night, however they were unable to travel to the man's last known location due to the lack of light and dangerous terrain
Police said they conducted a number of enquiries overnight and several crews, including SES volunteers and a helicopter, started to search for the missing man at first light this morning.
