Wedding expo is a beacon for brides

ABOUT 500 people are expected to walk through the doors of the PCYC for the 2015 Whitsundays Wedding and Honeymoon Expo on Sunday, February 22.

Exhibition organisers say that due to an initial booking frenzy, exhibitor space has been expanded to incorporate more suppliers.

Opening times have also been increased to give couples more time to meet with professional wedding suppliers, experience their products and ensure they've chosen the ideal people to contribute to their perfect day.

The expo will include wedding co-ordinators, celebrants, photographers, videographers, florists, cake makers, decorators, representatives from venues and accommodation outlets and more.

This year's expo is being hosted by WeddingsWhitsundays.com, with support from economic development agency Whitsundays Marketing and Development Ltd (WMDL).

WeddingsWhitsundays.com committee member and 2015 expo organiser, Sarah Black, said the expo would drive business to suppliers and provide unique opportunities for couples to see the destination as a truly spectacular and romantic wedding location.

"With more than 1500 weddings held every year in the Whitsundays, it is not hard to see why the region is known as the 'Wedding Heart of Australia'," she said.

"We literally have it all - from secluded beaches, waterfalls and cane fields, to exclusive resorts and hotels offering complete wedding packages.

"Whatever couples are dreaming of for their big day, the Whitsundays can provide it and it will all be here, under one roof, on Sunday, February 22."

The day starts at 10am, with a bridal fashion show at 1.30pm by local couture designer and dressmaker Kim Marcel. The expo will finish with a prize draw at 2.30pm. Entry is a gold coin donation.
