WENDY DOWNES is going to Las Vegas because Friday, March 4 was her lucky day.

Fantasea Adventure Cruising hosted a star studded cocktail party last Friday for local industry partners as the finale to an incentive drive and announced the grand prize of a Las Vegas experience of a lifetime for two valued at $10,000.

Mrs Downes said she was very surprised to have won because she never wins anything.

“It is always someone that I am with that wins,” she said.

Mrs Downes said she was looking forward to seeing some shows in Vegas and the Grand Canyon was also on her list.

She plans on taking her husband, and best friend, with her on the trip.

Fantasea Adventure Cruising general manager Rob Addis said he was pleased to award the grand prize to Mrs Downes from Summit Apartments.

She will stay seven nights at the famous Bellagio Hotel located on The Strip in the heart of Vegas.

More than 160 tourism operators enjoyed a night socialising at the viva Las Vegas extravaganza where the Reef Gateway Hotel Reef Room was transformed into a Fantasea casino with a guest appearance from impersonator Mark Andrew.

Mr Andrew is an entertainer with more than 15 years experience and put on a great show in the form of entertainers including Austin Powers, Elvis Presley, Tom Jones and Dean Martin.

Mr Andrew is expected to be back in the Whitsundays later this year.

Other prizes drawn at the event included return airfares from Proserpine/Hamilton Island to Melbourne with three nights' accommodation at Crown Casino and two night's accommodation at Jupiter's Hotel Casino in Townsville which were won by Pascal Schaeffer from Airlie Beach Hotel and Jing Nicholas from Pinnacles Resort & Spa respectively.
