WFC women continue their wonderful run
WHITSUNDAY FC
WOMEN
GOALS to Tyrah Dunn, Rebecca Page and Darcey Borellini helped Whitsunday FC's womens team continue their unbeaten season with a 4-1 win over the Magpies in Mackay on Sunday.
A fast start from the girls saw them hold a 3-1 lead at half time and they added a fourth goal in the second half to secure yet another win for 2013. The team has secured the minor premiership with a stellar 16 wins from 16 games and are red hot favourites heading into the grand final.
DIVISION 1 MEN
Lions flexed their premiership muscles with a 4-0 win over the last-placed Whitsunday FC in Mackay on the weekend. Three first half goals killed off the game and Lions added one more after the break while WFC went scoreless. It was always going to be a tough ask for WFC against the top-placed team and they will be up against some stiff competition again this weekend when they take on the third-placed Magpies.
PREMIER MEN
A double to WFC frontman Tomas Moring helped his team secure a 2-1 win over Wanderers.
Saturday's win was clinched by Moring's second half winner as the visitors further solidified their spot in the competition's top four. WFC now have an eight-point lead over the fifth-placed Mackay Crusaders and will enjoy the bye this weekend before gearing up for a run in the finals.
The division 1 men are the only WFC team in action this weekend, travelling to Magpies on Saturday for a 5pm game.
