Whitney still in the lead

Jennifer Whitney continues to hold on to the lead in the race to become mayor of Whitsunday Regional Council but counting is continuing.

Mrs Whitney is now 560 votes in front of incumbent mayor Mike Brunker.

There have been 13,214 votes counted so far from a total of 18721 electors enrolled.

The count so far is as follows:

Jennifer Whitney - 4838

Mike Brunker - 4278

Grigor Taylor - 2626

Tony Maine - 1380

In the councillor divisions, Jan Clifford still leads Division 1 and has increased her lead. She is now 237 votes in front of Louise Mahoney

In Division 2, Kevin Collins leads by 137 votes. Mr Collins currently has 648 votes with his closest rival being former mayor Mario Demartini with 511 votes.

In Division 3, John "Sarge" Collins is well in front of his nearest rival. The local butcher now has a lead of 448 votes.

In Division 4, current councillor Peter Ramage is still in the lead with 156 votes more than Tony large.

Division 5 is still very close with current councillor Dave Clark only in front by 56 votes.

Division 6 has Andrew Wilcox well out in front with a comfortable lead of 798 votes.
