Whitsunday karters make grade at Queensland titles
WHITSUNDAY Motosports Club members starred at the Queensland C and D Grade Karting Titles at the weekend with 10 of the club's 12 representatives making it onto the podium.
Among those to impress were Ralf Menzel who won the restricted heavy race and clubmate Max DeGuara who finished first in the Cadet 12 division.
Whitsunday Motosports Club karting president Stacey Hadlow said the local competitors had done well and the damp weather on Sunday made for some interesting racing.
Hosted by the Whitsunday Motosports Club at the Whitsunday Raceway, the C and D grade event is an opportunity for karters who are new to the sport to compete at a state level.
Racers travelled from as far as Warwick and Mount Isa to compete with 44 drivers taking part.
The event also attracted many sponsors including TG Motosport, John's Plumbing, Hosting Australia, Wilmar Bio Dunder, Whitsunday Karts and Parts, Whitsunday Regional Council and the Bendigo Bank. Each sponsor provided a representative to present the trophies, including Whitsunday Regional Council Mayor Jennifer Whitney, who commented on the value and importance of these sorts of events being able to run in the Whitsunday community.
The next karting club day will be held next month.
