Whitsunday wins at Queensland Tourism Awards

WHITSUNDAY operators walked away from Friday's Queensland Tourism Awards with a total of eight awards in the region's swag.

Of the six separate operators receiving these awards, Ocean Rafting and Whitsunday Jetski Tours took out two categories apiece, with Cruise Whitsundays, Pinnacles Resort and True Blue Sailing winning one award each and BIG4 Adventure Whitsunday earning a coveted gold in the Caravan and Holiday Parks category.

Ocean Rafting was awarded bronze in the Adventure Tourism category and silver in Major Tour and Transport Operators sector.

OceanRafting owners Peter and Jan Claxton were proud of the business's achievements. "It is extremely rewarding, and we are full of pride for our team," Ms Claxton said. Whitsunday Jetski Tours won silver in the Adventure Tourism category and bronze in the Tour and Transport Operators category. Owners Steve and Toni ward were equally thrilled to have been ackowledged.

"We are so proud to have been placed twice as one of the top three operators in the state," Mr Ward said.

True Blue Sailing and Pinnacles resort won silver awards in The Steve Irwin Award for Ecotourism and Accommodation respectively.
