THE Whitsunday tourism industry is set for a boost with a collection of our most desirable destinations and activities showcased on subscription television across Australia tonight.
B430 is Channel [V]'s globe trotting production full of must-have experiences and tonight's half hour episode is dedicated to showing the nation's young people what aspects of the Whitsundays they should explore before they turn 30.
Featuring heavily in the episode are a range of beaches throughout the Whitsundays, including Whitehaven; Airlie Beach backpacker accommodation; a snapshot of the nightlife; a Tiger Moth flight; a trip on Ocean Rafting; camping on some of the remote islands; a selection of accommodation and activities on Hamilton Island; a sample of what it's like to stay at the paradise Bay Eco Resort; and a day trip on Ragamuffin featuring snorkelling and diving at Blue Pearl Bay.
Tourism Whitsundays CEO Peter O'Reilly said the exposure would be invaluable to the area.
“Channel V's B430 program is hugely popular in that demographic, and to have an entire episode featuring the Whitsundays is huge exposure,” Mr O'Reilly said.
“The show will feature a budget, middle of the range, and ‘rock star' option for experiencing the Whitsundays, covering Airlie Beach, to the islands, and our wide range of activities.
“Local industry were really supportive of this visit, and we thank them for that as it will not only benefit their businesses but the region overall.
“The weather was also unseasonably stunning, so we are expecting the footage to be spectacular.”
The Channel [V] production team filmed the Whitsundays episode over one week in January.
The episode will premiere tonight at 7.30pm with encore screenings to follow at 9.30pm, on Saturday at 5pm, Sunday at 11am and next Wednesday at 5.30pm.
