Whitsundays teen in hospital after suspected marine sting
A young Cannonvale teenager has been taken to hospital following a suspected marine sting.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said a crew was called to a private home at Cannonvale at 2.26pm.
The spokeswoman said the girl had been swimming at the beach where she is suspected to have been stung by a jellyfish or irukandji.
She was taken to Proserpine Hospital in a stable condition with marks to her inner thigh.
The incident marks the third weekend in a row there has been a suspected marine sting at Mackay Whitsunday region beaches.
Last weekend, a 16-year-old Cannonvale girl was taken to hospital after she was suspected to have been stung by a jellyfish while on a jet ski.
And the weekend prior on March, 6, two boys were taken to Mackay Base Hospital after being stung by jellyfish in water off Bucasia Esplanade.
