Wildcats expect tough encounter with NBL rivals

THE reality is the New Zealand Breakers have won the past three NBL grand finals - the last two against Perth.

So despite the fact the Wildcats (14-3) are on top of the ladder and the Breakers (6-10) are sixth, Perth captain Damian Martin said he expected another fierce contest when the teams clashed at the Perth Entertainment Centre tonight.

"Each one of us players who have lost grand finals to them feel it, and the new guys coming in have certainly heard about it," Martin (pictured) said.

"It's one of those games where you know you're going to work for every point and every possession. You walk off the court utterly fatigued, but you've enjoyed it and hopefully you've got a win."

Round 14 matches (home teams first): Friday: Cairns v Sydney, Perth v Breakers; Saturday: Adelaide v Townsville; Sunday: Sydney v Melbourne Wollongong v Cairns.
