Will.i.am starts own car company

BLACK Eyed Peas frontman Will.I.Am is starting his own car company.

The rapper revealed his plans to fellow car lover Jay Leno, saying he wants to bring jobs to the Los Angeles suburb where he grew up.

"I'm a big technology freak and geek and I invested my money in building my own vehicle because I want to bring jobs to the ghetto that I come from, so why not invest?" he said on Leno's Tonight Show.

"Like I invested in making a demo to start the Black Eyed Peas, we did that, now I want to invest to have a car company in the neighbourhood that I come from.''

Will.I.Am, whose real name is William Adams Jr, has called his car company IAMAUTO and an image of the car has been released on the internet.

The car is a two-door coupe with radical looking white bodywork, but underneath is reportedly based on underpinnings purchased from established car maker Chrysler.

"I went to Chrysler and got a whole bunch of parts to where it's still certified as a legal vehicle on the streets," he said.

"So I don't really mess with the airbag configurations or things like that.

"Kept the chassis and we create the shell, which is the body and the interior and the audio interface, I got Beats audio, it's sick, it's really fresh."

It's not clear how many cars IAMAUTO intends to produce or how much the car will cost.
