Wine and dine at Race Week’s first long lunch

WHAT better way to celebrate one of the region's premier events then by sampling some premium local produce by the pristine Whitsunday waters.

The Airlie Beach Race Week Long, Late Lunch will see your tastebuds in a twitter on Saturday, set against the stunning backdrop of the Coral Sea.

Featuring six courses of Italian inspired fare, this is a culinary experience not to be missed by anyone with an appreciation for great food.

Whitsunday Sailing Club head chef Logan Ellis said diners could expect only the best.

"We use all fresh, local produce," he said.

"The Bowen tomatoes are picked two days ago; it's as fresh as you get."

So get your laughing gear around some gnocchi that will leave you gasping with pleasure.

As if this wasn't enough, each course comes paired with a sensational wine from Samuel Smith & Son, chosen to complement the delicious Italian cuisine.

Spaces are limited, so get in quick.

Speaking of wine, watching race week can certainly be thirsty work, so why not enjoy a top drop from a selection of Australia's premier wine companies on Sunday afternoon?

The Race Week Wine Show lets you sip your way through some of the best whites and reds around, with free tastings on offer.

And if you find one that claims your interest, as you're certain to do, a glass for just $6 is sensational value.

Feeling peckish after picking your ideal wine?

Worry not, with a range of food stalls sure to find you salivating.

So save room for an unbeatable weekend of food and wine at Airlie Beach Race Week.
