Wobbly Boot celebrates 10 years

WEDNESDAY’S Twilight race held special importance to Craig Piccinelli and his crew as they celebrated Wobbly Boot’s 10th birthday.

Ten years ago to the day Piccinelli launched his Jim Young designed sloop and she began her life as a serious race boat in the Whitsunday fleet.

Piccinelli has been sailing for 30 years and said he enjoys competing every Wednesday in the Twilight races and at any weekend races he competes in.

"The boat’s still going strong and will hopefully be for a while," he said.

"She’s an easy little boat to sail."

Coming third in division two at last Wednesday’s Twilight race was bitter sweet for Piccinelli as presentations after the race at the Whitsunday Sailing Club were a festive affair with birthday hats, streamers and a cake.

Surely it was mere coincidence that Wobbly Boot also won the lucky door prize on the night.
