Woman allegedly sexually assaulted during morning jog

DETECTIVES have charged a 15-year-old Aurukun boy after a woman was inappropriately touched in Cairns yesterday morning.

It will be alleged a woman in her 30s was jogging along Martyn Street in Manunda around 8am yesterday when she was approached by a boy.

The boy allegedly inappropriately touched the woman from behind and pressed himself against her.

A member of the public challenged the boy before he ran away.

Police took the boy into custody a short time later.

Neither the woman nor two children she was with were physically injured during the incident.

The boy will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act 1992.
