Woman faces rape charges after alleged genital stabbing

A BRISBANE woman has been charged with rape after allegedly stabbing another woman in the eyes and genitals with a screwdriver.

Police allege the 25-year-old woman clashed with a 30-year-old woman, both from Ashgrove, between about 2.45am and 3am on Thursday morning.

The older woman suffered injuries to her face, arm, ears, both eyes and genitals. She was taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital in a stable condition.

The 25-year-old was taken to the same hospital in a stable condition for treatment to a head injury.

A police spokesman said the women were known to each other.
