Woman punched during attempted shopping centre robbery

A 24-year-old woman has been pushed, punched in the head as she left a Queensland shopping centre.

The woman was leaving Cairns Central on Wednesday afternoon when another woman pushed her, causing her to stumble and lose one of her shoes.

As the woman bent to retrieve the shoe, the female has grabbed a sunglasses case that fell from the woman's bag and then demanded money.

The female then approached the 24-year-old woman and punched her to the head before running off.

The woman sustained minor injuries and did not require medical treatment.

Investigations are continuing.
