A WOMAN was seriously injured in a traffic crash that caused significant delays for motorists near Karana Downs.

Two vehicles collided on the intersection of Bunya St and Mt Crosby Rd at Karana Downs about 5.20am on Friday.

Police were called to the scene and found a 29-year-old woman trapped inside her car.

She was removed from the vehicle by police and rushed to the Princess Alexandra Hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the other car suffered minor injuries and was taken to Ipswich Hospital for treatment.

The crash caused long delays due to ongoing repairs and the need for police investigations.

Police closed Mt Crosby Rd at the so-called camel humps - the section of undulating road that runs parallel to the Brisbane River - while the crash scene was cleared.

A significant section of guard rail was demolished after the woman's car smashed through it.

The car came to rest facing back towards the road.
