SPECIAL GUEST: Dr John McIntosh will be sharing his story at this year's Whitsunday Writers Festival

Write stuff on offer at festival

PROSERPINE residents looking for something a little different should pop down to the Whitsunday Writers Festival, at Lure, Abell Point Marina, in Airlie Beach this weekend.

Now in its seventh year, the festival will run from Friday, September 2 to Sunday, September 4, and is set to be a feast for the senses, with inspiring author talks and stimulating workshops, as well as delicious food and the chance to mingle.

This year's theme is "Diversity” and the line-up of authors includes a true crime writer, a romance novelist, a doctor and a venomologist.

Digital journalist and adventurer Ben Southall will also speak.

Ben has just returned from Everest Base Camp and is well known in the Whitsundays for winning Best Job in the World in 2009 and becoming caretaker of Hamilton Island, which he wrote about in his 2015 book The Best Job in the World: How you can make a living from following your dreams.

Continuing the theme of following your dreams, Dr John McIntosh from Mackay, will speak and share some of the positivity that saw him build his multi-million dollar business, Mackay Superclinic, from nothing, through living the philosophies in his book, Mastering Negative Impulsive Thoughts, which he wrote with his wife Elizabeth.

Professor Bryan Fry, a qualified venomologist and snake catcher and author of Venom Doc will take the stage.

You will also get the chance to learn from Annie Seaton, who has won many prizes and accolades for her romance stories and local Lindsay Simpson, who has written many books including the Daniel Morcombe story, Where is Daniel?

Visit www.whitsunday writersfestival.com for more information, including a full program, or follow the festival on Facebook.

Tickets to the event are available online at www.whitsundaytickets. com.au.
