Young authors team up for kids book
YEAR 11 and 12 students from the Whitsunday Christian College had their creative juices flowing when they took part in the Write a Book in a Day Challenge last Friday.
The national writing initiative took place in schools across the country last week with 10 students from the college worked for 12 hours to produce the book that will raise funds for the Royal Children's Hospital in Brisbane.
Working from 8am-8pm, the girls wrote and illustrated the children's book, which will be printed and displayed at the school's library, with a copy also being sent to Brisbane to the children's hospital.
Program co-ordinator and college teacher Leah Wheeler said the students were all eager to volunteer their time and get involved with the project.
"It's a great way to raise money for a good cause and also helps the students work on their teamwork, writing and illustrating skills," she said.
