Young film makers rate Airlie
THREE young Brisbane lads have been making a documentary of their road trip from Byron to Cairns - and Airlie Beach was one of the highlights.
The former Sheldon College students wanted to make the TV series to show people some of the East Coast road trip hot spots on a budget.
Fraser Wallace, 17, Chris Schimkat, 17 and Will McGowan, 22 stopped off in Airlie Beach just before Christmas and said it was one of their favourite stops of the trip.
During their two night visit, the trio went ocean rafting and were VIP guests at the opening of Down Under Bar.
They parked their camper van at the Airlie Cove resort van park in Jubilee Pocket.
Will McGowan, the oldest of the trio, said Airlie Beach was like Queensland's own Byron Bay.
“NSW has Byron and Airlie Beach is definitely living up to it,” he said.
The series is now being edited and polished before being sent to television station Bris 31 where it has a guaranteed prime time slot.
It is due to air in February.
