RUGBY UNION

GAME time is approaching for the under-13 Proserpine-Whitsunday Raiders team as they head off for the Queensland Country Junior Rugby Union Muster in Tieri this weekend.

The team has been training for the last two months in preparation for the carnival which attracts parents and players from Bundaberg to Cairns including all western districts.

At the conclusion of the carnival the Queensland country Bushrangers team will be announced to participate in the state carnival in Brisbane. Several Raiders players are considered good chances to be selected to represent the Bushrangers at the state championships, with Coach Dave Cornish preparing the boys to compete at their best.

Cornish played for Bath and Wasps in the English domestic competition and the ex-Raiders player has volunteered his time as a coach since the inception of Try Rugby in 2005.

The team has been actively fundraising to raise money for the trip and thanked all the businesses who have supported them this year.
