Youngsters impress at Tallis Cup
THE under 10 Proserpine Brahmans did their club proud over the weekend, playing some great team football to finish 9th out of 40 teams in the Gorden Tallis Cup in Townsville.
After playing nine games across two days the junior Brahmans finished with an impressive record of five wins, one draw and three losses and missed out on playing for a shield by only 2.5 points.
Proud parent Leanne Hoffman was impressed with the team's efforts and said all the players really enjoyed the weekend.
The whole event was fantastic, everyone loved it and the boys did such a good job.
"They had to play six games on Saturday and three on Sunday and were improving every game," Leanne said.
"There are a lot of new players in our team this year and they all played very well and are a credit to their families and their club."
Brisbane Broncos and Queensland legend Tallis was present on both days of the tournament and signed plenty of autographs while catching up with under 10 players from all 40 teams.
All junior teams will play this Saturday May 12 at the junior league grounds in Mackay except for the under 12s, 13s, and 15s who have a bye this weekend.
After a week off for the May Day holiday, the Proserpine Brahmans' senior teams will play away against Souths in Mackay this weekend.
The A grade team are yet to record a win this year and will be desperate to snap their four-game losing streak at Shark Park.
Reserve grade are also coming off a loss and will look to bounce back while the under 18s head into their game well rested after enjoying a bye in the last round.
The action starts at 10.30am on Sunday with the under 18s, before the reserve grade game at midday.
The main game between the Brahmans and Souths kicks off at 2pm.
