Zoe meets her inspiration

ZOE Canfield's award-winning artwork for the Anzac Centenary art show has finally "gone home".

She attended the Legacy Luncheon in Sydney, where she was able to meet her inspiration, 96-year-old Second World War veteran Bill Whyte, and present him with the portrait.

Ms Canfield was thankful for Cruise Whitsundays' free tickets to Hamilton Island so she could board her flight to Sydney.

She described Mr Whyte as a "real gentleman" and said he was accompanied by his grandson Josh, who would be keeping the artwork.
